Dienesh's logic blocks: learning without cramming. Methods of teaching children mathematics using blocks 3

Most recently, our family became acquainted with a wonderful educational and gaming aid - Dienesh logical blocks. The game exceeded all our wildest expectations. For me and my four-year-old daughter Anya, the game became a real guide to the world of logic and mathematics.

Usually in the evening I often tell Anya:

- Let's play wizard. I guess a figure, show miracle cards with its properties, and you guess.

- Let's. Only then will I make a wish. - Anya answers.

So why did Dienesh's logic blocks become one of our favorite games? Let's figure it out.

The game is a set of 48 logical blocks that differ in four properties:

  1. Shape - round, square, triangular, rectangular.
  2. Colors: red, yellow, blue.
  3. Sizes - large and small.
  4. Thickness - thick and thin.

The main goal of the game is to teach the preschooler solve logic problems to be divided by properties.

Along with the game we purchased a wonderful set of manuals for playing with Dienesh blocks. Benefits are designed for ages 2 to 8 years. They provide invaluable assistance when playing with a child, making the game interesting, story-driven and vibrant.

So, let's start the game.

Games with Dienesha blocks

Dienesha blocks for the little ones (junior group)

Game 1. We consider and remember the basic geometric shapes. We build fairy-tale characters from figures.

Of course, you can simply show the figure and say: “Look, Anya, this is a circle, and this is a square...”. But remembering such information will be difficult and uninteresting for the child. How to make this process more productive and fun, how to turn learning into a game? They come to the rescue aids for games with Dienesh blocks for the little ones.

In them, the child is asked to create a fairy-tale character from geometric shapes. In essence, to play a real game.

- Anya, just look who is coming to us. The hedgehog was returning home along a winding path. He carried the luggage on his back, happy and funny. Oh, look at the thorns on his back. What figure do they resemble?

“They look like triangles,” Anya answers.

- Well done! The spines are like real triangles. Let's give the hedgehog real spines, sharp, sharp ones. Let's take our triangles and put them instead of thorns. Let's just be careful. The hedgehog has large and small spines, you and I will take large and small triangles.

- It turned out great!

Or this is the story...

- Anya, look what a cute crow and little raven flew to us today. Karrr! - the crow screams, - karrr! I'm leaving for the market! Little crows, don't fight! And wait for me in the nest!

- Anya, let’s guess some fun riddles today? Listen carefully. My first question is simple: what will break through the thick fog? Whose magical rays illuminate the path in the night? There are two pairs of them on the car. Did you guess it? This is... (headlights).

These are the simplest games with logic blocks of Dienesh. You can play them from the age of two.

For games of this type, I found the following manuals useful:

  • Dienesh blocks for kids “Little Logics”
  • Dienesh blocks for kids “Little Logics 2”
  • Dienesha blocks for the little ones (2-3 years old)
  • Dienesha blocks for the little ones 2 (2-4 years)

At first we played games of this type with Anya for a very long time. Dienes' blocks, of course, were indispensable in every game. With the help of these games, Anya perfectly learned all the figures, fell in love with them, and learned to recognize them.

Games with Dienesha blocks for the middle group

Game 2. We guess geometric shapes using signs and symbols. We “disenchant” fairy-tale characters.

Then we started playing more complex and serious games with Dienesh's logic blocks. I am absolutely delighted with these games! These are games that allow you to develop your child's logical thinking.

So, we began to gradually introduce signs-symbols into the game, with the help of which you can guess geometric shapes.

Anya became acquainted with all the signs and symbols quite quickly. But the process was gradual.

Signs and symbols can be cut out from the manual “Demonstration material (for children 2-7 years old)” or made yourself.

Now Anya had to not just put the figure on the album, but use signs and symbols to decipher the hidden figure.

- Anya, just look, the evil wizard bewitched the crocodile. We need to help the poor guy. The wizard left cunning clues for us.

Game 3. We are looking for hidden treasure.

For games of this type, I found the following manuals useful:

  • “We make nonsense. Series Blocks of Dienesh from 4 years old"

When Anya guessed and built all the fairy-tale characters, we came up with a new game - “Find the hidden treasure.” I put the figures in a row. I hide a sticker under one of the figures. Next I show Anya the signs and symbols. Using these signs, Anya guesses the figure, picks it up and finds the hidden sticker. There is no limit to delight!

Games with Dienesh Blocks for the older group

Game 4. Search for sunken treasure.

My eldest daughter Masha is 7 years old. She is in first grade. But even for her, Dienesh’s logic blocks are an excellent game that develops logical thinking and even the basics of mathematics.

To play with Maria, I purchased the manual “Searching for Sunken Treasure.” It suggests first solving mathematical examples, and then using the answers received to decipher the hidden figures using signs and symbols.

Also for older children you can use the following benefits:

  • “Rescuers are coming to the rescue. Series of Dienesh Blocks for seniors (5-8 years old)"
  • “Searching for sunken treasure. Series of Dienesh Blocks for seniors (5-8 years old)"
  • “Holiday in the country of Blocks. Series of Dienesh Blocks for seniors (5-8 years old)"

Where to buy the game manual “Logic Blocks of Dienesh”

Now comes the fun part. The cost of the game manual “Logic Blocks of Dienesh” is not at all high - approximately from 300 to 600 rubles(depending on the store).

Here are some links to online stores where you can buy this game guide:

The game guide “Dienesh's Logic Blocks” is a wonderful game. If you have a child in your family who is from 2 to 8 years old, then feel free to purchase it. You can make cards (signs-symbols) yourself. In the instructions for the game you will find many useful and exciting games.

Many thanks to the company "Corvet" LLC (St. Petersburg, official website www.corvet-igra.ru) for a wonderful gaming guide!

Dienes Blocks – Benefits of Game-Based Learning

Dienesh's system clearly demonstrates that even children, with the right approach, quickly learn to analyze and summarize information and perform logical operations. Of course, learning should take place in the form of a game that combines both entertainment and learning.

Games that use Dienesh blocks help to use all the practically inexhaustible creative potential of the child, develop his speech, stimulating him to construct complex sentences using conjunctions and semantic and formative particles.

Dienesh's logic blocks teach the smallest person to designate various properties of an object, see the difference and classify a number of objects according to external characteristics, highlight the main properties, etc. As the game becomes more complex, a transition occurs to the basics of computer science, concepts such as coding are taught in a simple form , algorithms, logical operations and inferences.

Dienesh blocks - cubes and figures help parents improve their child's creative and intellectual abilities in the form of an exciting game. Pedagogical diagnostics confirmed that the Dienesh system makes it possible to master mathematical concepts from simple to more complex in a playful way, and to develop psychological processes that are important for children.

Dienesh Method – learning mathematics in six stages

Depending on the age of the child, Dienesh's method offers six successive stages of learning mathematics - games begin with the simplest concepts and gradually become more complex.

Many adults are scared and think that this is difficult for a child, but any experienced teacher will confirm that children think very well in abstractions and what sometimes seems difficult for adults to perceive, the child easily and quickly learns.

It is only necessary not to overload it, but to move and work gradually in steps - from simple to complex. As a result of the game, the child learns to solve quite complex mathematical problems.

Dienesh's logic blocks - how to work with them to make games interesting

Dienesh's logic blocks consist of 48 geometric shapes, none of which are identical in shape, color, size and thickness. The kit comes with a methodological manual, which you should definitely read before you start playing. The most important thing is that in addition to the advice, do not forget to use your own imagination, do everything to make the games captivate the children and please them, only then will you and your child achieve success.

Start playing Dienesh block games for the little ones with the simplest ones, using the concept of “how it is.” For example, offer to find all the figures that are the same in color (all blue triangles), or in shape - collect triangles of different colors or sizes, etc.

Then complicate the games - take any figure and offer to choose different ones for it, “not like this” - find a circle, square, rectangle for a triangle.

Complicate the games by setting more difficult tasks - building variants of chains of blocks, alternating different and identical conditions. Teach your child to build analogies - lay out one row of 5-6 shapes and offer to create a second one, but with different characteristics, for example, the shapes are the same, but the color or size is different.

Games to develop the ability to conduct analysis are analogous to dominoes, when several people play and lay out a chain, picking up the corresponding figures at the ends, but of a different color or size. Offer to divide the figures according to their properties between the participants in the game, and these could be dolls, bears, hares, etc.

TO As you can see, there are a lot of options, gradually you will start to come up with something else to diversify the tasks and make them interesting.

Most importantly, monitor your baby’s mood, and under no circumstances force him to work if he is tired and can no longer concentrate. Games should be interesting to him, and to interest him, use them as a reward for something, for example: “Here, eat the porridge, only then let’s go play and take the hare with us.”

By the way, according to many reviews, games with Dienesh blocks are also interesting for adults, they teach them how to improve - after all, it’s not too late to do this at any age.

Didacticgame "How much?"

Material: logical figures.
Purpose of the game: develop the ability to ask questions and develop the ability to identify properties.
Game description: Children are divided into two teams. The teacher arranges logical figures in any order and invites the children to come up with questions starting with the words “How many...”
A chip for every correct question. The team with the most chips wins.
Question options: “How many large figures?” “How many red figures are there in the first row?” (horizontally), “How many circles?” etc.

Didactic game" ARTISTS"

Material:
. "Sketches of paintings" - sheets of large colored cardboard
. additional cardboard parts to compose the composition of the picture;
. block set
Purpose of the game:
. development of the ability to analyze the shape of objects
. development of the ability to compare by their properties
. development of artistic abilities (choice of color, background, location (composition).
Game description:
Children are invited to “paint pictures” based on the sketches. One picture can be “painted” at once
several people. Children choose a “sketch” of the painting, paper for the background, details for the future painting, and the necessary blocks. If the part is only outlined in the sketch (the outline of the part), a thin block is selected, if the part is painted, a thick block is selected. So, for example, for a sketch of a painting with elephants, a child will take additional details: 2 elephant heads, the sun, a lake, the top of a palm tree, a cactus, an animal and blocks.
At the end of the work, the artists come up with a title for their paintings and arrange an exhibition
paintings, and the guide tells visitors to the exhibition what is depicted in the painting.

Didactic game "SHOP"

Material: Product (cards with images of objects) Logical figures.
Purpose of the game:
. development of the ability to identify and abstract properties
. development of the ability to reason and justify one’s choice
Game description:

Children come to the store, where a large selection of toys is presented. Each child has 3 logical figures "money". One “money” can only buy one toy.
Purchase rules: you can only buy a toy that has at least one property of a logical figure. The rule can be complicated by choosing a toy based on two properties (for example, a large square, a blue square, etc.)

Didactic game "What changed"

Z adachi:

Improve children's knowledge about geometric shapes, their color, size, thickness

Develop thinking.

Material: Dienesha block set.

Progress of the game: Several figures are laid out on the table in front of the child that need to be remembered, and then one of the figures disappears or is replaced with a new one, or two figures are swapped. The child should notice the changes.

Didactic game"Round dance"

Target: classifies blocks according to two or three characteristics: color, shape; color - shape - size.

Material: set of Dienesh logic blocks.

Progress of the game.

The teacher offers to arrange magical figures in a cheerful round dance. The round dance will turn out beautiful and elegant.

The blocks are laid out in a circle. Any block is taken at random, then a block is added in which one sign of the previous block will be present, and so on. The last block must match the first block in one way or another. In this case, the game ends - the “round dance” is closed.

Didactic game “Second Row”

Tasks:

Develop the ability to analyze, highlight the properties of figures, find a figure that is different in one way.

Material: A set of Dienesh logic blocks.

Progress of the game: Place 5-6 of any shapes in a row. Build a second row under them, but so that under each figure in the top row there is a figure of a different shape (color, size); the same shape, but different color (size); different in color and size; not the same in shape, size, color.

Didactic game “Find the treasure”

Tasks: Improve children's knowledge about geometric shapes, their color, size, thickness. Develop thinking.

Material: Dienesha block set.

We lay out 8 logical blocks of Dienesh in front of the child, and while he does not see, under one of them we hide a “treasure” (coin, pebble, cut out picture, etc.). The child should ask you leading questions, and you can only answer “yes” or “no”: “Is the treasure under the blue block?” - “No”, “Under the red?” - "No". The child concludes that the treasure is under the yellow block and asks further about the size, shape and thickness. Then the child hides the “treasure”, and the teacher asks leading questions.

Then the children themselves can play this game, competing to find the treasure.

Didactic game “Game with one hoop”

Tasks: Develop the ability to split a set according to one property into two subsets, and perform the logical operation “not”.

Material: Hoop, set of logic blocks of Dienesh.

Progress of the game: Before starting the game, they find out which part of the game sheet is inside and outside the hoop, establish rules: for example, arrange the pieces so that all the red pieces (and only them) are outside the hoop. After placing all the figures, two questions are asked: what figures lie inside the hoop? Which pieces were outside the hoop? (The answer is assumed: “all non-red pieces lie outside the hoop”). As the game repeats, children can choose which blocks to put inside the hoop and which ones outside.

Didactic game “Game with two hoops”

Tasks: Developing the ability to split a set according to two compatible properties and perform logical operations “not”, “and”, “or”.

Material: 2 hoops, a set of Dienesh logic blocks.

Progress of the game: Before starting the game, you need to find out where the four areas are located, defined on the game sheet by two hoops, namely: inside both hoops; inside the red but outside the green hoop; inside the green hoop, but outside the red hoop and outside both hoops (these areas need to be circled with a pointer).

1.then the rule of the game is called. For example, arrange the figures so that all the red figures are inside the red hoop, and all the round ones are inside the green hoop.

2.after solving the practical problem of arranging the figures, the children answer the questions: which figures lie inside both hoops; inside the green but outside the red hoop; It is advisable to play the game with two hoops many times, varying the rules of the game.

Note: In options 5 and 6, the common part remains empty. We need to find out why there are no figures that are both red and green, and also why there are no figures that are both round and square.

Didactic game “Let’s move into houses”

Tasks: Develop the ability to analyze, highlight the properties of figures, and classify.

Material: Set of logical blocks of Dienesh, tables with images of paths and houses

Progress of the game: In front of the children is table No. 1. The child needs to help each figure get into its house, focusing on the signs.

Didactic game “On your branch”

Tasks: Develop the ability to analyze, highlight the properties of figures, and classify figures according to several criteria.

Material: Set of 24 figures (four shapes, three colors, two sizes). Each figure is the bearer of three important properties: shape, color, size, and in accordance with this, the name of the figure consists of the name of three properties: red, large rectangle; yellow, small circle; green, large square, etc.

Progress of the game: The picture shows a tree on which the figures should “grow”. To find out on which branch which figure will “grow”, take, for example, a small green rectangle and start moving it from the root of the tree up the branches. Following the color pointer, we must move the figure along the right branch. We've reached a fork. Which branch should we follow next? On the right, which has a rectangle. We reached the next fork. Further, the Christmas trees show that a large figure should move along the left branch, and a small one should move along the right one. So, we will go along the right branch. This is where a small green rectangle should “grow”. We do the same with the rest of the figures. The game is played in a similar way with the following picture.

Didactic game "Chain"

Target: Development of the ability to analyze, highlight the properties of figures, find a figure based on a given characteristic.

Material: Set of logical blocks of Gyenish.

From a randomly selected figure, try to build the longest chain possible. Options for constructing a chain:

    So that there are no figures of the same shape (color, size, thickness) nearby;

    So that there are no figures nearby that are identical in shape and color (in color and size, in size and thickness, etc.);

    So that there are figures nearby that are the same in size, but different in shape, etc.;

So that nearby there are figures of the same color and size, but different shapes (the same size, but different colors).

Didactic game “Help the fairy-tale hero”

Tasks:

Exercise children in grouping geometric shapes

    Develop observation, attention and memory

Exercise:

Divide the figures between fairy-tale characters so that:

Pinocchio ended up with all the blue squares

So that Pencil gets all the yellow ones

So that Dunno gets all the yellow and big ones

Didactic game "Floors"

Program tasks: Develop the ability to classify and generalize geometric shapes according to their characteristics. Practice counting. Develop spatial orientation, attention, logical thinking.

Material: Set of blocks.

Progress of the game:

We suggest placing several figures in a row - 4-5 pieces. These are the residents of the first floor. Now we build the second floor of the house so that under each figure of the previous row there is a piece of a different color (or size, shape).

Option 2: part of the same shape, but a different size (or color).

Option 3: we build a house with other details in color and size.

Game - Fairy Tale “In the Kingdom of Blocks”

Material: Dienesh blocks, one box for three people.
Target: introduce blocks and their properties, develop attention, the ability to identify, abstract properties (size, shape, thickness), imagination, creative thinking.
Game description: Children choose a color for their kingdom (yellow, blue, red). The presenter tells a fairy tale, and the children assign blocks to the roles of heroes and build their own kingdom from them.
“In a certain kingdom, in a certain state, there lived a king. It was strong, big, thick and looked like a rectangle (children choose a block - a large thick rectangle). The king had a queen very similar to him, only thinner (we select a block - a large thin rectangle). They lived very happily, and they had two children, similar to them, only small (small fat and thin rectangles). And then one day..."
Options: Further, the fairy tale can be continued according to the children’s plans or in accordance with the theme. (We went into the forest to pick mushrooms..., We took a pet... etc.)
In games with Dynesha blocks, it is very convenient to use cards with property symbols and logic cubes, presented in the “Let’s Play Together” didactic set, as additional material.

Didactic game "Spaceship"
Material: hoops of red, blue, yellow colors, a large triangle-rocket made of carpet or cardboard, cards with property symbols or logic cubes, Dienesh blocks.
Target: formation of the operation of classification and generalization of blocks according to one to four characteristics, development of logical thinking and attention.
Game description: the hoops are laid out on the floor in a row, a triangle-rocket is added. Using cards with property symbols or logical cubes (except for color), the condition for each of the hoops is determined.

Rules: To launch a spacecraft into orbit, it is necessary to fill all three stages of the launch vehicle with fuel, in accordance with the conditions.
Game options:
First option. Children are divided into teams, each of which fills out its own hoop; the conditions in the hoops are equal in difficulty.
Second option. Children independently choose the hoop they will fill and/or the condition by tossing the cube; the conditions in the hoops vary in degree of difficulty.
Third option. You can fill in any hoops; the conditions in the hoops can be either the same or different levels of difficulty.
Difficulty level:
Simple: the condition specifies only the color of the hoop, or another property is added (shape, size, thickness).
Medium: 2 types of property symbol cards are used, for example, shape and size, shape and thickness, etc.
High: All cards with property symbols including negation are used.
Additional material: sounds of a jet engine, riddles about space.

Game “Let's decorate the Christmas tree with beads”

Material: Image of a Christmas tree, 15 cards with symbols, set of logical figures
Target: Development of the ability to identify and abstract properties. Ability to “read a diagram.” Strengthening ordinal counting skills.

Progress of the game: We need to decorate the Christmas tree with beads. There should be 5 rows of beads on the tree. There are three beads in each row. The number on the card indicates the serial number of the string of beads (we start counting from the top of the tree). Let's hang the first row of beads (cards with the number 1). The filled circle shows us the place of the bead on the string. The first bead is a small yellow circle, the second is a large yellow square, the third is small
yellow triangle. We hang the rest of the beads in the same way.

Outdoor game "Cat and mouse"

Target: develop the ability to “read” cards with symbols of properties, identify the necessary properties, stimulate the motor activity of children.
Materials: tokens on ribbons with property symbols for Cat and Mice.
Progress of the game: Children (4-9 people) choose mouse tokens and put them on over their heads and stand in a round dance. In the middle is the cat “Vaska” (you can select him using V. Levin’s counting rhymes). Next to him are the cat tags.
The round dance moves with the words:
-The mice dance in circles,
The cat is dozing on the bed.
Hush, mice, don't make noise, don't wake up Vaska the Cat.
Vaska the cat will wake up
And the round dance will disperse.
On the last word, the cat quickly puts on one of the tokens and turns to the “mice.” So that they can see him. A token is information for mice about which “mice” the cat will kill. The rest of the mice are not afraid of the cat, they can have fun and tease Vaska. The caught mouse becomes a “cat” and the game continues.
Note: Cards with property symbols can be used as tokens.
Difficulty levels: You should start the game with the simplest color property, then complicate it by changing the properties and combining them. For example: a cat catches red and round mice.
A high level of complexity is the presence of logical negation.

Didactic game "Find me"

Target: Development of the ability to read the code designation of geometric shapes and find the corresponding code.
Material: A set of blocks, 3 copies of code cards (2 - with a regular code, 1 - with a negative code).
Progress of the game: Children are divided into two groups. One takes cards, the other takes blocks. The children of the first group take turns reading (decoding) the cards; the child from the second group, who has the corresponding block, comes out and shows a geometric figure.
Possible words to use:
“Blocks, different blocks, yellow, blue and red,
They are familiar to all of us, find me!”

Dienesh technique

Logic blocks were invented by the Hungarian mathematician and psychologist Zoltan Gyenes. Games with blocks Dienesha accessible, visually introduce children to the shape, color and size of objects, mathematical concepts and basic knowledge of computer science. Buying Dienesh blocks is worth it for those parents who want to develop in their children logical and analytical thinking (analysis, comparison, classification, generalization), creative abilities, as well as perception, memory, attention and imagination. When playing with Dienesh blocks, the child performs a variety of objective actions (groups by attribute, lays out rows according to a given algorithm). Dienesh's logic blocks are intended for children aged three years and older.

Dienesh blocks, which can be purchased at almost any store specializing in educational materials for children, are set of 48 geometric shapes :

a) four shapes (circles, triangles, squares, rectangles);

b) three colors (red, blue and yellow figures);

c) two sizes (large and small figures);

d) two types of thickness (thick and thin figures).

According to Dienesh's idea, there is not a single identical figure in the set of blocks . Each geometric figure is characterized by four characteristics: shape, color, size, thickness.

Introducing Dienesh Logic Blocks

It is not enough to simply buy your child a set of Dienesh blocks and give the figures for the child’s full use. First you need to introduce your child to blocks. Place the set in front of your child and give him the opportunity to explore the figures, touch, sort through, hold and play with them. A little later, you can offer the following tasks:

Find all the figures of the same color as the one laid out (show, for example, a yellow figure). You can then ask your child to point out all the triangular shaped blocks (or all the big shapes, etc.).

Ask your child to give all the blue figures to the bear, yellow ones to the bunny, and red ones to the mouse; then in a similar way we group the shapes by size, shape, thickness.

Ask your child to identify any shape by color, shape, size, thickness.

Logical games and exercises with Dienesh blocks

Several figures are laid out in front of the child that need to be remembered, and then one of the figures disappears or is replaced by a new one, or two figures are swapped. The child should notice the changes.

All the figures are again put into a bag. The child takes a figurine out of the bag and characterizes it according to one or more characteristics. Or names the shape, size or thickness without removing it from the bag.

Lay out three figures. The child needs to guess which one is extra and according to what principle (by color, shape, size or thickness).

Place any figure in front of the child and ask him to find all the figures that are not the same as this one in color (size, shape, thickness).

Place any figure in front of the child and ask him to find figures that are the same in color, but not the same in shape, or the same in shape, but not the same in color.

We lay out the figures one after another so that each subsequent one differs from the previous one in just one attribute: color, shape, size, thickness.

We lay out a chain of Dienesh blocks so that there are no figures nearby that are the same in shape and color (in color and size; in size and shape, in thickness and color, etc..).

We lay out a chain so that nearby there are figures of the same size, but different in shape, etc.

We lay out the chain so that next to it there are figures of the same color and size, but different shapes (same size, but different colors).

Each figure needs to find a pair, for example, by size: a large yellow circle is paired with a small yellow circle, etc.

Then the child hides the “treasure”, and the adult asks leading questions.

By analogy with the previous game, you can hide one of the figures in a box, and the child will ask leading questions to find out what kind of block is in the box.

We lay out 5-6 any figures in a row. You need to build the bottom row of figures so that under each figure in the top row there is a figure of a different shape (color, size).

We offer a table of nine cells with figures displayed in it. The child needs to pick up the missing blocks.

In the game of dominoes, the pieces are divided equally between the participants. Each player takes turns making their move. If there is no piece, the move is skipped. The first one to lay out all the pieces wins. You can walk in different ways: with figures of a different color (shape, size).

The child is asked to lay out the Dienesh blocks according to the drawn diagram-picture, for example, a large red circle is drawn, followed by a small blue triangle, etc.

From Dienesh's logical blocks you can create planar images of objects: a car, a locomotive, a house, a tower.

Mom puts only rectangular blocks into the box, and the child removes all red ones, then mom puts away only thin figures, and the child removes large ones, etc.

The child needs to select Dienesh blocks using cards that show their properties.

color is indicated by a spot

size - silhouette of the house (large, small).

shape - outline of figures (round, square, rectangular, triangular).

thickness - a conventional image of the human figure (thick and thin).

The child is shown a card with one or more properties depicted on it. For example, if a child is shown a blue spot, then all blue figures need to be put aside; a blue spot and a two-story house - set aside all the blue and large figures; a blue spot, a two-story house and a circle silhouette - these are blue circles - thick and thin, etc.

Then the tasks with cards gradually become more difficult.

This article shows only a few games with Dienesh logic blocks, but in fact there are many more of them. The set with blocks also comes with 8-page instructions, where you can learn about this technique and games in more detail.

In addition to the well-known “blocks” that develop logical thinking, Dienesh came up with the fairy-tale country “Ruritania”, numerous games with stripes, logic games and “26 flowers”.

Dienesh's logical blocks, without separating mathematics from creativity, help to master abstract concepts and develop psychological processes.

“He’s a humanist,” mom and dad make excuses for a child who has difficulty learning mathematics. But how can parents instill a love for this science if they themselves consider it uninteresting and boring? The Hungarian scientist-teacher fundamentally refuted the usual stereotype about technicians and humanists, creating his own system of early education. Its main element is Dienesh's logical blocks. Without separating mathematics from creativity, they help to master abstract concepts and develop basic psychological processes in exciting games that will interest even adults.

Cognition through figures

Blocks - Dienesh cubes - are not an ordinary construction set. In the set, consisting of 48 wooden or plastic elements, not even two blocks are identical. Each one varies in shape, color, size or thickness.

Such properties of cubes allow them to be a multifunctional tool for understanding basic logical operations (comparison, classification, generalization, etc.), form modeling skills, and contribute to the manifestation of fantasy and imagination.

Featured articles:

“Entering” into mathematics is carried out gradually in accordance with the age and individual capabilities of the child. Dienesh blocks for the little ones, used in the first lessons, are selected with one common feature, then with two, etc. Older children will enjoy more complex operations and games, which are reflected in special albums and manuals.

Conventionally, the following sequential goals of the methodology can be distinguished:

  • teach to highlight properties;
  • compare objects according to identified properties;
  • classify and generalize the characteristics of objects;
  • understanding of symbolic language and related operations.

Along with the blocks, you can use the “Let's Play Together” manual, which continues and deepens the work on the Dienesh system. It includes:

  • cards with conventional images of features of figures or denial of their properties, 11 confirming the feature (round), and 11 denying (not red). They help in mastering such abstract concepts for children as signs.
  • 9 groups of figures, each of which consists of 24 pieces;
  • logic cubes - 5 with property symbols and one with numbers, form the child’s skills such as coding and decoding.

Using logical blocks together with a set of cards, you can create about 20 different game plots. Here are just a few of them.

Game "In the store"

The set also contains sheets with drawn toys from playing figures. The baby is given “money” (blocks) with which he can buy toys for himself. But this can be done in such a way that the existing block and the figures in the image have at least one common feature. For example, for a red triangle you can buy a house or an animal with triangular ears.

"Logic Train"

The application provides several trains, each with its own color, assigned number and four carriages. Children place cards above their carriages with the indicated algorithm for changing the characteristics of figures and select the corresponding blocks. For example, if you can change the shape and color, then a red round weight will become a yellow square one.

Other development systems:

Among the worksheets in the “Let's Play Together” set, there are also those that represent algorithms. You can play “architects” with them, creating a playground project or decorating a Christmas tree according to the pattern.

How to play with logic blocks

The age range for using the game manual is quite wide (2-8 years), so games and exercises differ in degree of complexity.

Do not start the first lessons without giving your child the opportunity to become thoroughly familiar with the blocks. Let him first touch them, fold them, and only then begin to study the properties of the proposed figures.

Games from 2 years old

Dienesh's method for the little ones is the first step for children on the path to learning mathematics. In the simplest games, kids master the basic properties of blocks and learn to operate with the concepts of “same” and “not the same.”

"Find the figurines"

Ask your child to choose all the cubes according to one property. For example, “Please give me all the shapes the same shape as this one (triangular), what is the name of this shape?”

Games for searching for blocks that do not correspond to a feature are constructed in a similar way. For example, “Choose all the cubes that are not the same color as this one. What is the name of this color?

Developing memory

In front of the baby there are several parts of the construction set. After he looks at them carefully, remove one or change their sequence, and invite the baby to remember how it was.

"Guess"

Ask your child to feel the shape or size of the blocks in the bag.

"Remove the unnecessary"

Choose two figures that will distinguish one another from each other by one property (a large red triangle, a large red circle), and let the third figure have only one property in common with them (a large yellow square). Have them guess which block is the odd one out.

In a more complicated version of the game, reduce the number of common characteristics to one, and ask them to explain their choice.

Games from 4–5 years old

Age for children is a relative concept, since everything depends purely on the individual qualities of the preschooler. The proposed task should be feasible, but difficult enough so that cognitive interest does not fade.

"Domino"

You will need at least two players. The conditions for choosing pieces for a move are agreed upon in advance. For example, only thin or only square. The rest of the rules are the same as in the classic version of the game of dominoes.

"Report the row"

The leader lays out the first row. Players determine one sign for themselves and report their row in turn, selecting blocks in accordance with the previous one.

For example, first row: yellow circle, red square, blue triangle; the second row changes color: red circle, blue square, yellow triangle, etc.

"Find the Treasure"

In front of the baby lies a chain of 8 cubes, under one of them we place a conditional treasure. You can find it only with the help of leading questions that exclude or confirm one property. For example,

— Is this a red block?

— Is this a thick block?

— Maybe this is a triangular block? Etc.

"Sorting"

When putting away the cubes after the game, divide the work with your child: he collects all the red and large ones, for example, and you collect the rest.

Making Dienesh blocks from wood with your own hands is not so easy and quite labor-intensive. Therefore, the easiest and cheapest way is to make paper copies of the cubes. Their only disadvantage will be the absence of such a feature as thickness.
