It is not yet known exactly what will happen in 2019: we need to wait for the official order from Rosobrnadzor on the correspondence of primary and test scores. Most likely it will appear in December. Considering that the maximum primary score has increased from 62 to 64, it is very likely that the minimum score may change slightly.

In the meantime, you can focus on these tables:

Where to start preparing for the Unified State Examination in social studies?

1. Learn theory.

For this purpose, theoretical material has been selected for each task, which you need to know and take into account when completing the task. There will be questions with a philosophical bias (man and society) and sociological (relations in society). Remember that there are only 8 topics: society

  • Human
  • cognition
  • spiritual sphere (culture)
  • social sphere
  • economy
  • policy
  • right

Indicate what topics the survey will be on in the assignments. Within each topic there are many smaller subtopics that you should pay attention to while studying.

To obtain a high result, the examinee must confidently operate with basic concepts and terms. Analyze information provided in graphical form. Work with text. Reason competently within the framework of the problem posed, concisely express your thoughts in writing.

Important tip: When preparing, you should not use materials and manuals for 2016 and earlier, since they have lost compliance with the updated tasks.

2. Study well the structure of assignments and their evaluation system.

The examination ticket is divided into two parts:

  1. Tasks 1 to 20, requiring a short answer (word, phrase or number);
  2. Tasks 21 to 29 - with a detailed answer and mini-essays.

The assessment of Unified State Exam assignments in social studies was distributed as follows:

  • 1 point - for tasks 1, 2, 3, 10, 12.
  • 2 points - 4-9, 11, 13-22.
  • 3 points - 23, 24, 26, 27.
  • 4 points - 25, 28.
  • 6 points - 29.

You can score a maximum of 65 points.
The minimum must be 43 total points.

Formula for exam success

High scores on the Unified State Exam = theory + practice + systematic repetition + clearly planned time for studying + desire / will / hard work.

Get ready. Try your best. Strive for success! And then you will succeed.

Social studies holds the palm among selective subjects for the Unified State Examination. The popularity of this exam is explained quite simply: on the one hand, it is considered uncomplicated, and on the other, it is often required when applying to humanities majors. Some students think that they don’t need to prepare for social studies, since they will understand the correct answers to the test part based on logic, and they will write something in the essay. Quite a few high school students have already made this mistake.

This Unified State Exam requires not just time and effort to memorize the terminology, but also the ability to operate it. In addition, the threshold for this Unified State Exam exceeds the “minimum” that you need to score, for example, for or. To successfully pass social studies, you need to find out everything about the changes in CIMs that have already been published. Let's figure out what is included in the exam in this subject, and also find out what pitfalls high school students have to avoid.

Demo version of the Unified State Exam-2017

Unified State Exam dates in social studies

Rosobrnadzor has allocated the following dates for the Unified State Exam in Social Studies:

  • Early period. The early exam will be held on March 24, 2017, and April 5, 2017 is allocated as a reserve day (you must write an application for early passing before March 1);
  • Main stage. The main examination is scheduled for June 9, 2017.
  • Reserve date. The reserve day for social studies is June 20, 2017 (in case of force majeure, there is another reserve day for all subjects - June 30, 2017).

Let us remind you that only certain categories of graduates can apply for early passing of the Unified State Exam:

  • those who graduated from school before the 2016/2017 academic year;
  • students who received secondary education before the 2016/2017 academic year with a certificate rather than a certificate;
  • evening school students;
  • high school students falling under;
  • eleventh graders who will be absent on the day of the main testing due to departure for sports competitions, olympiads, competitions and other events at the federal or international level, as well as those who will be forced to miss the main date due to treatment or disease prevention;
  • graduates leaving the territory of Russia due to a change of residence or to study at a foreign university;
  • students who graduated from school outside of Russia.

Statistical data

In 2016, 358.5 thousand schoolchildren (about 55% of all graduates) took the social studies exam. Despite the apparent simplicity of this exam, approximately 17.6% of eleventh graders were unable to achieve the minimum score last year. This figure has, unfortunately, increased significantly in recent years. For example, in 2011 the percentage of “B students” was only 3.9%, and in 2013 – 5.3%. Last year, only 59 people were able to demonstrate the highest result, equal to one hundred points.

Passing the Unified State Exam in Social Studies

The time allotted by FIPI for the social studies exam will be the same as last year - the student has the right to solve the question within 235 minutes. It is worth recalling once again that this examination does not involve the use of additional reference materials and computer technology.

Before a graduate enters the classroom and receives his ticket, he must get rid of all prohibited items (smartphone, audio, video, photographic equipment, tablet, smart watch and other small equipment, reference books or cheat sheets). Any of these items will be grounds for removal from the exam and a failing grade.

Instruction on the conditions of passing the Unified State Exam will be carried out before the exam.

During a social studies exam, schoolchildren are prohibited from changing their seat, getting up from it without the permission of observers, leaving the classroom unaccompanied, turning to other students and talking to them. Don't worry about not being able to navigate or doing something wrong. Before testing begins, you will be told the rules of behavior, how and when you can review your results, how to fill out exam forms and correct mistakes.

Social studies tickets review information related to various aspects of life in modern society. The exam is designed to test graduates' knowledge of the basics of economics, law, understanding of sociology and political science, as well as philosophy and, in some aspects, even history. Specifically, the student will be required to demonstrate:

  • understanding the biosocial essence of man;
  • knowledge of the main stages and factors determining the socialization of the individual;
  • the ability to determine the role and place of the individual in social relations;
  • knowledge about the patterns and trends in the development of society, as well as the institutions that govern society;
  • understanding the need to manage public relations;
  • knowledge of the norms and mechanisms of legal regulation of relations in society;
  • the ability to search and analyze information characterizing various social objects;
  • skills of applying acquired social, economic and humanitarian knowledge in practice;
  • the ability to formulate and argue one’s own point of view on proposed problems.

The structure of the work is represented by 29 tasks, divided into two parts:

  • the first part consists of 20 tasks requiring a short answer in the form of one or several words. A possible answer consists of sequentially written numbers;
  • the second part includes 9 tasks to which you should give a detailed answer in the form of an explanation, description or statement of a reasoned opinion. This also includes such an important part as the essay.

This Unified State Exam tests schoolchildren’s knowledge of the functioning of society.

What will change in the Unified State Exam 2017?

The 2017 model of the KIM in social studies does not imply any significant changes in content, however, the structure of the ticket has been optimized. Specialists from FIPI pay attention to the following points in the block of tasks from the first part, which are aimed at testing knowledge from the “Law” section:

  • The ticket has been supplemented with task No. 17, which involves choosing the correct judgments, as a result of which the numbering has been changed. The test, previously numbered 17, became the 18th;
  • the task, which was 19th in KIMs of previous years, was excluded from the exam card.

Grading system and passing grade

For 8 years, the points that a student receives for the Unified State Exam were not transferred to the usual five-point grading system, since the result of this test did not affect the points of the final certificate. However, not long ago there was news that in 2017 this will be revised - with the help of the Unified State Exam it will be possible to correct school grades. If we convert the obtained points into the usual grading system, the distribution will be as follows:

  • graduates who scored from 0 to 41 points demonstrated unsatisfactory knowledge, therefore these points are equivalent to a mark of “2”;
  • students who scored from 42 to 54 points understand the structure of society at a satisfactory level, their score is “3”;
  • high school students who received from 55 to 66 points are fairly well versed in social studies, so they receive a mark of “4”;
  • graduates who scored 67 points and above in the exam know social studies perfectly and receive a well-deserved “5”.

You can find out your exam scores by registering on the Unified State Exam portal. To identify yourself, you will need to enter your passport information. The minimum passing score in the Social Studies discipline in 2017 will be 42. As practice shows, to obtain it you need to successfully complete about 12 tasks, since almost all of them are worth more than 1 point. Let us remind you that the maximum you can score for the Unified State Examination is 100 points.

Prepare to write an essay - this is an important part of the Unified State Exam in social studies!

How to write a good essay?

An essay is considered one of the most difficult tasks in social studies, which will require you to have serious theoretical skills and the ability to correctly formulate your thoughts. However, it is quite possible to overcome difficulties with this task if you use the following recommendations:

  • Manage the time allotted for the exam wisely: try to leave at least 65-70 minutes for the essay;
  • do not try to write out a complete answer on a draft form, because then you may not have enough time to rewrite everything. Limit yourself to thesis and main ideas that will help you structure this assignment;
  • take a responsible approach to choosing a topic - read and think about all the options offered for choice in order to choose the one that you clearly understand and can comprehensively argue;
  • Unambiguously determine which branch of knowledge the topic you will cover belongs to. The Commission is very averse to vague and general statements that cross discipline boundaries;
  • start the essay with general discussions about the problem and focus on its relevance;
  • include at least brief information about the author whose statement you will need to analyze, describe several approaches to the formulated problem, select arguments of a theoretical and empirical nature;
  • do not forget to make a succinct final conclusion.

In total, you can get 5 points for the essay, the first part of which is awarded for understanding the topic. This is an important point - if the expert believes that you failed to understand the topic, he simply will not check the work. The second part of the points is awarded for knowledge of terms, ability to apply them, and also for how correctly you can draw conclusions. The third component is points for skills in supporting your position with reason.

Preparation for the Unified State Exam in Social Studies

When preparing for the exam, you should initially focus on knowledge of terminology. However, it is not enough to memorize definitions from economics, philosophy, law, sociology or political science. The success of passing this exam largely depends on how correctly you can operate with concepts, whether you can attribute a problem to a certain branch of science and analyze it using the methods with which it operates.

To pass the Unified State Exam, pay more attention in class and solve demo options.

An important point is the choice of manuals, methodological literature and educational materials. Unfortunately, preparing for the Unified State Exam is a way to earn extra money by selling third-rate literature. Choose only textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education - for example, those developed by L.N. Bogolyubov and A.I. Kravchenko. Make sure that the selected literature was published in recent years, since specialists from FIPI rely only on modern publications.

Work through the demo version of the Unified State Exam to understand the structure of the ticket and the requirements for its solution. A demo version of the Unified State Exam in social studies can be downloaded on our website (see the beginning of the article). This version was developed by specialists from FIPI, so the tasks it includes are similar to real tests. Look at what essay topics were included in previous years' tickets and write a practice paper for each of them. This approach will help you develop the skill of structuring thoughts and presenting arguments.

In this regard, only the first part (the first 25 tasks) is presented in this test. According to the current exam structure, among these 25 tasks, answer options are offered in only 20. However, for the convenience of passing tests, the site administration decided to offer answer options in all tasks. However, for tasks in which the compilers of real test and measurement materials (CMMs) do not provide answer options, we decided to significantly increase the number of these answer options in order to bring our test as close as possible to what you will have to face at the end of the school year.
